Staying connected through telehealth: Genoa pharmacist featured in media Q&A

Jul 1st, 2021

Making Telehealth Successful

As more people sought virtual services to avoid in-person contact during the COVID-19 pandemic, the growth of telehealth accelerated significantly – a trend that appears here to stay. With less face-to-face communication and more screen time, how can the health care community stay connected to their patients? In a recent Q&A by Authority Magazine, Site Manager Tammy Nguyen stressed flexibility, reliable technology, preparation and hard work behind the scenes as keys to successfully connecting with consumers in a virtual world.

“Throughout the pandemic, Genoa pharmacy teams have made a big effort to maintain connections through texting and personal message platforms with our patients to ensure they stay on their medications and continue to have easy access to our team.” Nguyen said.

The rise of telehealth has unanticipated benefits. Consumers can continue seeing trusted providers even if they move to a new location. It also provides a welcome option for those who are unable to visit an office due to physical disability, illness, lack of transportation or fear.

Although Nguyen believes it is easier to build relationships with consumers when delivering care in person, she is excited about the benefits of telehealth. She said she looks forward to the potential of artificial intelligence, virtual reality and other technological advancements in the medical field that can continue to provide ways to stay engaged with consumers.
