Chain Drug Review features Genoa Healthcare’s efforts to increase vaccine access for medically underserved populations

Aug 15th, 2022

When the COVID-19 vaccine became widely available last year, Genoa Healthcare® pharmacists administered immunizations to thousands of consumers across the country and demonstrated the critical role pharmacists have in providing life-saving preventive care for medically underserved populations. Genoa’s ongoing effort to continue reaching these communities and ensure they have access to immunizations was recently featured in Chain Drug Review.

“The populations who are the most at risk of serious illness from viruses are often the same populations that experience significant barriers in receiving immunizations to prevent infection,” said Christy Barr, Genoa’s senior vice president of pharmacy operations. “Our pharmacy teams will do whatever we can to make sure the communities we serve have access to receive their flu vaccine this year.” You can read the full article in Chain Drug Review’s recent issue.
