Genoa’s 2024 Art Celebration: Celebrating the healing power of creativity

Jan 24th, 2025

“I’ve always expressed myself through my art and learned to use my creativity to inspire others”, says Genoa Healthcare 2024 Art Celebration participant Shanelle G. Genoa’s annual Art Celebration invites consumers to share their original artwork and a quote about what art means to them. Consumers submitted over 1,600 pieces and stories to this year’s celebration.

Many participants underscored the important role art plays in their life. “When I get stressed out or full of anxiety, I use art as my therapy. It is a form of meditation for me and a way to express my emotions in a healthy and creative way,” says Genoa consumer Jennifer K. For Thom B., “art is a means of living for me. If I didn’t have the creative outlets I have, I wouldn’t be able to interface with my own issues the same way.” These are just a few of the many quotes we received throughout the Art Celebration that reinforce the healing power of art.

For Sheena G., “art serves as a vital outlet for self-expression and emotional release.” She says it allows her to convey feelings and thoughts that words often fail to capture. In her years as a pharmacist and tutor, she successfully used art to connect with people navigating verbal communication challenges.

To thank and celebrate the 2024 Art Celebration participants, Genoa created a digital art gallery featuring nearly 300 pieces of artwork  and stories from this year’s artists. Visit the gallery here.
