Thank you, pharmacy technicians, for everything you do

Oct 19th, 2021

Genoa Healthcare’s pharmacy technicians help us to serve nearly 1 million consumers across 47 states and the District of Columbia. They make sure the people we serve get the pharmacy care they need and deliver it with compassion and professionalism. They are the glue that holds our pharmacy teams together.

Pharmacy Techs: The Unsung Heroes

Technician Michelle Marucci, based in Cape May, New Jersey, makes an effort to ensure every person visiting the pharmacy window feels special. Since she joined Genoa eight years ago, she’s gone out of her way to remember everyone’s names and stories. In turn, her consumers trust her.

Marucci has no shortage of inspirational stories to tell. For example, she once introduced a distressed consumer to Dispill services to make their medication plan easier. She also helped a young woman in tears get through to her provider and get the medication she needed right away.

“She goes above and beyond for our clients, which has gained their loyalty,” said Kimberly Davis, Marucci’s site manager. “She always does what it takes to meet patients’ needs, whether it’s calling the doctor for refills, contacting the insurance, setting up delivery or just lending a listening ear.”

Genoa technicians have also played a critical role in serving the behavioral health community during the pandemic. A number of technicians trained to be certified to administer COVID-19 vaccines, to expand Genoa’s capacity to deliver immunizations in their communities.

“I feel privileged to be a part of something as important as keeping our consumers and communities healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said technician Barbara Smith, who is based in Mentor, Ohio, adding that her pharmacy has administered hundreds of doses of vaccines since they became widely available.

These are just a few of many stories that demonstrate the care and kindness that our technicians show to the communities they serve. Do you have a story about a technician who went above and beyond to help you? Help us celebrate National Pharmacy Technician Day by contacting us to share your story.
